Supreme Court overturns Casson $20,000 ruling in Bell case

The Arkansas Supreme Court set aside a $20,000 Clark circuit court judgment for Harry C. Casson of Batesville against Southwestern Bell Telephone Co after Casson alleged a fall while lifting a packing case in the company's supply room. The court held the worker assumed risk in the uncomplicated act in a well lit room. The court granted a rehearing for Frisca Railroad in a separate personal injury suit and ordered retrial in Lawrence County. It reversed a $15,000 verdict in Mrs. Margaret Hayley’s favor for her husband’s death in a Hoxie crash due to trial error, and considered a chiropractic licensing exam and Act 163 tax delinquency case on rehearing.
