Arkansas House defers action on Emprise stock ban at West Memphis track

The State Agencies Committee deferred Tuesday on a bill to remove Emprise Corp of Buffalo NY as principal stockholder in Southland Racing Corp operator of the West Memphis dog track. The measure by Reps J B Smith and Ernest Cunningham would also bar the concessionaire at the track from being a principal stockholder in the racing franchise. Emprise holds 46.6 percent of Southland stock and Arkansas Sportservice Inc. is an Emprise subsidiary.
