The Hempstead County Farm Bureau holds its regular monthly board meeting Thursday night March 4 at the Farm Bureau building 806 West 4th Street. Lester Kent president says the meeting starts at 7 00 p m with a potluck supper and a film An Ounce of Prevention will be shown. Members urged to attend.
In Citerna Italy residents elected Flora Volpini as mayor. Her first act was to install four public washing machines free to all with many households previously washing along streams.
Go den Age Club plans a Thursday meeting at the Youth Center if weather allows. Hempstead County Wildlife Association meets at 7 30 Thursday in the little courtroom at Hempstead Courthouse to elect 1965 officers. Webb Laseter Jr. spoke at Prescott Rotary on Credit Bureaus. Hope Men’s Golf postpones to March 11 with dinner and two films at the Country Club. Six attendees to the all state band clinic in Little Rock will stay at Marion Hotel with rehearsals concerts and dances. Mrs. George Wells underwent surgery in Texarkana and is in Room 419 at St Michael’s hospital. A Senate vote killed the bill to require County Judges to bid on purchases over 500. Sen Olen Hendrix opposed. Rep Talbot Feild Jr. introduced 11 bills. Federation parliamentary procedure public speaking and sweetheart contest held last week hampered by bad weather and flu. Blevins won parliamentary contest with Prescott second and Hope third. Delaine Bonds first in sweetheart contest with Sue Almond second. Jim Wade won public speaking on Coastal Bermuda. Dwight Walton spoke on King Cotton placing second.

Union County Rep. Donald Brown rejects a Walther amendment raising hunting and fishing licenses to 3.50 for seniors while preserving a severability clause.
