A five nation U N investigating committee dated June 20 said the Soviet Union crushed a spontaneous uprising last fall and now maintains a forceful government. Diplomats consider a special session prior to the September 17 regular Assembly, with U S Delegate Henry Cabot Lodge noting plans for ministers to attend could draw a larger audience. The 24 sponsoring nations decided the Assembly should act promptly while weighing Hungary’s interests and the issues involved. No party indicated a concrete proposal beyond urging timely action.
