The National Weather Service reports mainly dry and warm conditions for Arkansas for the next two days with a 20 percent chance of rain through Sunday. Scattered showers occurred in western Arkansas on Thursday, but no widespread storms are forecast.
Afternoon and evening showers dissipating after sunset. High pressure over the eastern U S will bring fewer clouds and drier weather with waning temperatures. Overnight lows in the 60s to low 70s, rainfall reports include .62 at El Dorado and traces elsewhere.
Vienna based composer Robert Stolz died in West Berlin at 94 APA reported. He wrote Two Hearts in Three Quarter Time and contributed 2000 songs 20 operettas and music for 100 films earning two Oscars. Stolz fled Austria during the Hitler era moved to New York later aiding revival of Viennese operettas. He began piano at seven and conducted and composed throughout his career.
The ACLU says it will deliver a 9000 word report to the Senate Intelligence Committee detailing alleged plots by the FBI and San Diego police to assassinate a local antiwar activist. The report cites two former informants and claims the FBI recruited and funded right wing terrorists to attack antiwar demonstrators.
Former President Richard Nixon testified voluntarily for 11 hours over two days at the Coast Guard station in San Clemente California before two jurors of the Watergate grand jury. The session, not under subpoena, covered a wide range of subjects as part of an ongoing inquiry into tapes, finances, and campaign contributions.

An explosion at the U S Bureau of Indian Affairs offices in Alameda CA shattered windows at the federal building complex near the beach. Police reported no injuries and the FBI will determine if the blast was a bomb or other cause after a caller warned of an NWLF attack.
