Happy Days debut disappoints older viewers with nostalgic satire
New York AP reports CBS summer replacement Happy Days failed to win over younger audiences and irked older viewers. The premiere featured Louis Nye in Berkeley style attire introducing a 1930s theme, spoofing songs and era icons. Performers mimicked Laurel and Hardy and W C Fields but lacked sharp wit, while Bob and Ray and Edgar Bergen segments fell flat in a muddled hour.
