Jail Parents for Punishment to Child

In San Francisco a mother and father, Esther Stewart and Robert Stewart, were jailed on cruelty charges after police rescued five year old Sharon Stewart from a dark closet where she had been locked for over 24 hours. The child, malnourished and evading, was found near a cluttered room in the home as neighbors reported repeated punishments. Sharon weighed about 30 pounds and needed care at a hospital.
