20-Man Posse Hunts Killer of Girl Scouts Near Locust Grove

A 20 man posse plus state police sharpshooters Tulsa officers and 150 volunteers search a 10 square mile area around Skunk Mountain near Locust Grove Oklahoma for a suspect in the kidnapping and rape of three Girl Scouts at a summer camp. The girls were mistreated and dragged from their tent on June 13. Authorities have a suspect, a convicted person who fled from the county jail four years ago, still at large.

Court rules limited parochial aid allowed

The Supreme Court allows some tax dollar support for parochial students including books and diagnostic services on school grounds but bars field trips and lending equipment. National Cancer Institute to test Laetrile on terminal patients

The National Cancer Institute will run a clinical trial of Laetrile on terminally ill cancer patients after public pressure. About two hundred patients will be studied in a year long program, comparing Laetrile plus standard treatment to standard treatment with dummy medication, without informing participants which arm they are in.

Wreck on Highway 67 Injures Two

An afternoon crash on Highway 67 west involved Buela Cross of Murfreesboro and Willie Brown of Hope when Brown crossed the center line and struck Cross’s car, pushing it into Sisson’s vehicle. Both drivers were hospitalized. Brown charged with third offense DWI and suspended license. Officer Rusty Paul investigated.

Ken Arnold first to report UFOs 30 years ago today

Ken Arnold, Boise businessman, reported nine shiny pulsating objects over Mt Rainier on June 24 1947 sparking the UFO craze. He recounts they seemed alive and could change density while noting no claim of little men. He later spoke at a Chicago UFO conference.
