Conservatives Want Nixon to Bow Out

AP report notes Phyllis Schlafly says a June poll shows grassroots Republicans believe Nixon cannot win in 1972 and should bow out in favor of California Governor Ronald Reagan. If Nixon steps aside, Reagan would be GOP conservatives’ overwhelming favorite with Agnew weakly second. if Nixon runs, 72 percent want Agnew kept on the ticket. Pendleton to Speak at Hope Church Supper

Rev Edmund Pendleton, former minister of the First Christian Church in Hope, will be guest speaker at a Friday supper on June 25 at 6:45 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall. Arkansas forecast: hot and humid with scattered thundershowers

Daunis Removed From Academy

Fayetteville police officials say Charles A. Daunis a former Alcoholic Beverage Control agent was removed from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy at Camden after a complaint by the Arkansas Police Chiefs Association. Daunis will finish a four month sentence for hashish for sale at Pulaski County Penal Farm. Chief Spencer noted concerns that his presence harmed the academy’s reputation.
