Builders feel tight money as first victims of restraint
Builders of homes say tight credit hurts their plans and consumer demand, with May housing starts dropping 13 percent to the lowest since January 1963. Analysts caution the economy may not slump, citing other factors and savings cushions, while some fear inflation talks and Viet Nam war costs could slow growth. A separate note defines the Chinook wind as a warm dry winter wind on the east side of the Rockies.
