Denison Project Aims To Cut Flood Stage Five Feet
The Red River flood control plan for a Denison dam is deemed entirely feasible by Army Engineers chief General Markham. The plan would lower flood stage at Index and Fulton by five feet, reducing flood risk in the Big Bend area of the river and protecting crops and property values. The Red River Valley Improvement Association schedules a June 24 meeting in Paris, Texas, urging Valley farmers to attend. Ben F. Smith urges landowners along the river to support authorization for the federal dam project.
