Pleasant weather is expected in Arkansas through Saturday as a large high pressure ridge builds over the western United States. A surface high over southern Colorado today should remain stationary then drift east and southeast later, bringing continued dry conditions.
Weather forecast notes a slight chance of thundershowers with after noon heating and a warming trend through Saturday. It projects upper 80s to low 90s highs, mid to upper 60s nights, and pleasant Sunday to Tuesday with little precipitation, plus specific regional temperatures and rainfall figures for the area.
Pollster Louis Harris reports a nationwide survey showing 52 percent say Nixon should be unpeached and removed, 35 percent oppose. The result marks a shift from early May when 49 percent favored impeachment. Harris notes Nixon's trouble deepens amid Watergate matters and questions about his knowledge of the original aid.
In Norman Oklahoma residents returned home after a 35 car Santa Fe freight derailment released acrid fumes over Norman and near Modre. Hospitals treated 248 for inhalation. no serious injuries reported. Guards patrol streets as work crews seal the wreckage and cover leaking canisters and drums to prevent further danger.

A Weather Underground claimed responsibility for a late Thursday explosion at Gulf Oil Corp headquarters in Pittsburgh. No injuries reported. two feet hole blown in floor, windows shattered, and seven trapped in an elevator. A warning call preceded the blast.
In Queens South Jamaica hundreds of black residents protested the acquittal of Patrolman Thomas Shea for the fatal 1973 shooting of 10 year old Clifford Glover. Police report injuries and property damage as emotions run high after the verdict. A second officer was indicted for murder in a separate 1973 Brabham case from Brooklyn.
In Paragould Arkansas 26 of 66 witnesses summoned to testify before the Greene County Grand Jury are law enforcement officers from city, county and state units. The panel will review alleged irregularities by officers including Greene County Sheriff Jim Cox Paragould Police Chief Lloyd Hill six state troopers six Paragould police officers and seven Greene County deputies. A copy of the subpoenas was released by Circuit Court Judge A S Todd Harrison. The panel will also examine an Arkansas State Police report on a county investigation ongoing over three weeks.
