Soviet parliamentary and local elections drew massive turnout in all 15 republics with Khrushchev voting in Moscow and cosmonauts casting ballots by radio. Reported turnout exceeded 99 percent as voters pledged support for the Communist bloc.

Forecasts call for Arkansas to be partly cloudy warm and humid through Tuesday with scattered showers and thundershowers diminishing late Tuesday. a few severe storms are possible in north Arkansas tonight. Allies Battle on Three Fronts Across Indochina

Cambodian and South Vietnamese troops clashed with Communist forces on three fronts in Cambodia and in South Vietnam. In Cambodia, fighting near Phnom Penh and the Vihear Suor marshes continued into a third week with no casualty figures released. Near Srang, government troops were driven from the town by North Vietnamese attacks, while near Krek south of Phnom Penh South Vietnamese infantry reported 29 enemy killed with 5 of their own dead and 11 wounded. In South Vietnam’s central highlands, paratrooper reinforcements fought into the night at Fire Base 5 where 24 North Vietnamese were killed in a 54 hour clash, and 1 South Vietnamese soldier was killed with 21 wounded. Prime Minister Pham Van Dong urged North Vietnamese forces to intensify the war, saying the U.S. program to bolster South Vietnamese forces is failing.

Local highway project requires major street rebuild

After a public meeting residents signed easements for additional right of way as the state and city plan a $350000+ highway rebuild on South Main. Main improvements include sewer and water line relocations, new storm sewers, curb and gutter from 3rd to 23rd, and sidewalks replacement. If the State Highway Commission approves on June 23, contracts could be let in July.

May traffic report flags speed as top cause

LaFayette, Little River and Nevada had no fatalities in May. Mosier reports 84 accidents in the county area and 1128 statewide. Miller County led with 18 accidents, Hempstead 13, Clark and Pike 11 each, Sevier 10, Nevada 7, Little River 6, Howard 5, and LaFayette 3. Seventythree fatalities occurred in 50 fatal crashes. motorists urged to drive with care during the 010 Days of Danger.

Federal contractors must post all job openings with the U S Employment Service and the Defense Department should broaden employment training for servicemen in their final weeks of duty.
