Reds Issue Note to Resume Talks at Panmunjom
In Panmunjom Korea June 8 the Communist command urged the United Nations to resume truce talks and press to settle the prisoner of war question. The note signed by North Korean premier and generals urged all out efforts to reach an armistice, while warning about repatriation disputes. The UN side deemed the plans unacceptable, as only 70,000 of 169,000 POWs favor return to Communism and the rest resist. The UN declined to push further, with Maj. Gen. Harrison having broken off talks last Saturday.

Court Affirms Highway Dept Power in 250 Foot Right of Way
The Arkansas Supreme Court upheld the Arkansas Highway Department authority to acquire a 250 foot right of way for relocating U S Highway 61 in Crittenden County, despite plans for only 24 foot paving now. The decision, upholding Chancellor W Leon Smith, found relocation not an abandonment of the state highway system and refused an injunction sought by landowners and Turrell. The case also noted future four lane construction and included a dissent by Justice Minor V Milwee.
