Lawmaker Walther argues against tax on tax in Arkansas
Pulaski Rep Glenn Walther slammed supporters of continuing a tax on tax as wild. He cited Arkansas Democrat warnings of a $41 million revenue loss from revising the state income tax. The issue centers on whether Arkansans should pay state income tax on federal taxes paid. Walther says the federal deduction should lower the state tax base, noting wage earners pay federal tax on income while state tax reflects the full amount. He claims he has not voted for a tax increase but would support one to end what he calls an unfair, unjust tax.
