The Associated Press reports the U S Weather Bureau indicates Arkansas will be rain free this weekend with only a slight chance of light showers in South Arkansas. Most rain should be over as a weak front exits the state. Skies will clear tonight and temperatures will fall tomorrow morning.
NEW YORK AP The stock market rebounded Thursday from Wednesdays loss as investors reduced Middle East crisis concerns. The Dow rose 12.42 to 64.98, matching its loss, while the AP 60-stock average gained 3.9 to 20.7 and the NYSE index edged up to 759.
U S officials fear South Vietnam’s economy may head to runaway inflation. A high source warns harsh measures may be needed if a second half surge adds to the 22 to 24 percent rise in the cost of living in the first five months of 1967. A joint South Vietnamese paratroop and infantry task force with air and artillery support routed a crack Viet Cong battalion about five miles from Dong Ha, claiming at least 160 enemy dead. In the same sector, Marines attacked a dug-in North Vietnamese ridge near Con Thien and Camp Carroll, suffering 13 Marines killed and 63 wounded. Southeast of the DMZ, Viet Cong mortared Tan An and shelled a camp holding defectors, with one death and 28 wounded. An aerial barrage and armored actions continued as U.S. forces pursued Red forces across several provinces.
