Experts rush play costs two trick victory in bridge match
In a major English match two experts pressed ahead with fast second trick play. Declarers won the opening diamond and led trump to dummy’s ace. West showed out and the pace slowed. Each led a heart to dummy’s queen then back, East won with nine of trumps. South faced a grim choice and both experts went down. A careful alternative early queen of hearts beat the bad pro forma break and kept the game.
