Hope city offers WPA paving aid to cut street costs
Syd McMath, chair of the city council finance committee, told the Rotary club Friday that the City of Hope would pay one third of property owners costs for new street paving under WPA. He noted Hope has 10 miles paved and a 6,008 population, now 7,477, needing more paving. The plan mirrors Little Rock’s approach but Hope’s aid and a possible paving district could cut costs to about one third of original plans, enabling faster dust control and smoother traffic with less burden on property owners.
