Joe Moody formerly of Nashville died Monday in Houston Texas at age 52. He was a retired senior manager of process engineering for Fluor Corporation and a World War II veteran. A Methodist and Texas A&M and University of Delaware graduate, he is survived by his wife Larena Bell Moody of Houston, daughter Carol Hall of San Antonio, son Joseph T Moody Jr of Houston, parents E T and Mrs Moody of Nashville, brother Kenneth Moody of Avanta Georgia, and one grandchild. No memorial service. His body was donated to Baylor Hospital Houston.
The Centennial Committee of Hope approved a $1000 grant to the City of Hope to help convert a storage room at the Community Building in Fair Park into a kitchen. Treasurer Harry Hawthorne reported $38,967.85 raised from coins, books, events, and donations, with expenses including city hall renovation and a new stage curtain. The effort saved by using local volunteers exceeded losses seen in neighboring towns.
