The Boston Public Library reports a rare book discovery a copy of Benjamin Franklin Experiments and Observations on Electricity Librarian Milton E Lord says it likely belonged to Franklin with marginal notes that may be in his handwriting The book was donated to the library in 1973 and surfaced in the rare book section

Three Communists Executed in Seoul by Rhee Regime

The South Korean government announced the execution of three Communist agents convicted in 1958. Kim Chung-je, a former police officer, and two others were hanged on July 1 after delayed appeals. The men were punished for spying for North Korea.

British Soldiers To Face Iraqi Court Martial In Baghdad

Three British soldiers captured near the Kuwait border in Iraq will be tried by an Iraqi court martial in Baghdad. Radio 1 reported there were no indications of specific charges. The men were on patrol in an armored vehicle along the poorly marked frontier and reportedly crossed the border by mistake.

Trusty May Face a Murder Charge in Arkansas Prison

Jesse Ring a 23 year old guard at Tucker Prison Farm may face a murder charge for the slaying of fellow trusty J C Johnson over a 70 cent debt. Ring says Johnson owed him and authorities say he killed Johnson with a 12 gauge shotgun in a small farm building after an argument over the money. A guard witnessed the shooting and Prosecutor E W Brockman Jr was asked to file the murder charge. Ring began a three year term last October for burglary and grand larceny in Independence County. Johnson had a six year term for robbery and arrived May 14 1959.
