Arkansas judges seek high court seat amid diverse careers
Three Arkansa s judges vie for a one year term on the state’s high court to succeed Chief Justice Lee Seamster. Chancellor Garleton Harris of Pine Bluff advocates a 30 day waiting period for divorces while Circuit Judge Lee Amsler of Little Rock and Chancellor Lee Ward of Paragould also campaign across the state. Harris helped spark the wait period that cut divorces. the Legislature followed with a state law maintaining it. Harris, a Pine Bluff native, has held multiple legal posts including Jefferson County representative and Desha, Lincoln and Jefferson counties prosecuting attorney.
