Noted Author Tavales Dies at 27 in Lake Muft
The noted author Tavales died yesterday at his suburban Lake Muft home from a heart attack. He wrote 20 novels and hundreds of short stories, including Fovelelos and Korlata, and contributed to national magazines. He was a former associate editor of American Hoy and chaired the fiction department at Northwestern University, where he earned a BA and taught for more than a year.

Thunderstorms spread through northwest Illinois, the Lake Superior region, and a belt from Iowa to the central Rockies, with southeastern states and western Arkansas also seeing showers.
