The Associated Press reports Arkansas faced thunderstorms Thursday night with Little Rock receiving 3.35 inches in about five hours, after 0.84 inches in 41 days. NWS says the storms should end in the extreme southeast today as several reports come in.

Obituaries note the deaths of Lillie M. Chambers 89 of Nashville Arkans as a Methodist member with services in Latimer Funeral Home chapel. Maurie Richardson Ellis 52 of Texarkana Tex died in a local hospital with services at East Memorial Chapel and burial in East Memorial Gardens. Oca Williams 55 of Oklahoma Street Texarkana died July 21 with service at Common Hill Baptist Church Hope and burial in Shed Williams Cemetery. Survivors listed for each include spouses children and siblings.
Purdue University Indiana accepts thirty four freshmen into the Department of Bands for the 1974 75 year and eight more join the orchestra. Freshmen chosen for these groups are selected for musical and academic ability, including Glendell P Hoover AR 4 of Hope violin. Thompson is 1974 Blevins High School graduate. Hope Junior Auxiliary hosts Crafts Exhibition via Arkansas Arts Center State Services Program at Citizens National Bank.
