Welfare raise speculation in Arkansas governor race
James Malone Jr. of Lonoke, a Democratic candidate for Arkansas governor, said on a Little Rock TV paid political speech that he would not be surprised if Gov. Rockefeller’s administration offers another welfare increase before the campaign ends. He proposed raising welfare to 110 dollars a month without a tax hike and noted the recent six dollar rise. He also opposed repealing the railroad full crew law, warning it would raise accidents and divert funds to dividends for railroad stockholders.
