School Refunding Is Given Approval

LITTLE ROCK The State Board of Education at the capitol Thursday approved refunding contracts for eight school districts, tentatively approved eight others, rejected two, and tightened rules. The Pulaski County Special School District refunding plan with the Arkansas Municipal Bond Bureau was approved tentatively, pending minor adjustments. It lowers interest to 2.5 to 4.0 percent for 10 years, then 4.5 to 6 percent for the remainder of the 20-year bonds. Also approved was a $644,000 Hot Springs School District refunding by T. J. Raney & Sons with a one percent rate cut for five years, after which the rules resume.
