The National Weather Service says a high pressure system will keep Arkansas weather stable with light winds. Little change is forecast for the next five days, and there is a 20 percent chance of widely scattered thunderstorms.

London AP reports a bomb exploded in the Tower of London basement at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, killing Dorothy Households, 47, of South London, and wounding 37 others including four Americans and a New Zealand family. Police suspect the Irish Republican Army and tightened security at venues and transport hubs. Scotland Yard sought tips from tourists who filmed the incident and urged vigilance for suspicious parcels or letter bombs.
Southwestern Bell in Arkansas will spend 16.3 million dollars to bury more lines this year. Norma Pierce, a company manager, says buried cable improves service reliability and lowers maintenance costs, noting 72 percent of lines are underground nationwide and 66 percent in Arkansas. Funeral services for Frank B. Thomas 78 held at Herndon chapel with two ministers officiating burial in Macedonia cemetery. He died Tuesday in a Little Rock veterans hospital. Survivors include his widow three stepchildren and three stepgrandchildren. Funeral services for William J. Vick 78 were at First Baptist Prescott with DeAnn cemetery burial. He died Tuesday at his Prescott home. Vick formerly served as Prescott postmaster. Funeral services for Bert D. Smith Emmet were held at Herndon with burial at Snell cemetery. He died Tuesday in a Prescott hospital and was a retired Arkla Gas Company employee.
A gunman who abducted a family member was cornered after about five hours of a swampside manhunt in Dade County. Police recovered $50,000 in ransom and the weapon used to kill businessman Gans and his wife. Knight, captured with injuries, faced authorities after helicopters planes tracking dogs and tear gas were deployed. The victim, a Mount Sinai Hospital trustee and Israeli aid recipient, was described as a prominent local sportsman by friends.
Thomas Allred, a Ferndale police officer, crafts a seven-building, eight-foot long Western town from more than 5,000 Popsicle sticks. He started in January and often works until 3 a.m. with glue and sticks. His wife Sue calls it a family effort and says everyone sees the progress each morning.
