Northwest Territory stamp marks 150th anniversary of settlement
A historical note recalls Massachusetts residents buying land north and west of the Ohio, Congress passing the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, and 47 pioneers founding Marietta in 1788. By 150 years later the United States issued a commemorative stamp for the Northwest Territory, inclining Ohio Indiana Michigan Wisconsin and parts of Minnesota.
