Allied Bombers Hit Messina and Sicily in Heavy Strikes

Allied air forces bombed Messina in a major blow to the fortress guarding the strait between Sicily and Italy. Medium and heavy bombers targeted rail yards, stations, and an anti aircraft position in Palermo, while torpedo planes sank a tanker and damaged another. Capital bookies fined in Little Rock crackdown
