AP report notes forty five states have adopted Always on Monday holiday bills to give workers at least five three day weekends annually. Louisiana may still enact a Monday holiday this year. Oklahoma South Dakota West Virginia and Wisconsin will revisit in January as they fall in step with a 1968 Congress law shifting four national holidays and Columbus Day to Mondays starting next year.
Four persons were injured in a 6 am Friday collision on Highway 67 three miles north of Hope. Joe Patterson 43 of Hope Richard Larsen 19 of Murray Kentucky and Mrs Delores Garcia 37 and her daughter Guadalupe of Donna Texas were taken to a local hospital with various injuries. State Police troopers Harvey Fullerton Wallace Martin and Bobby Neel investigated with Hope City police assisting.
AP reporting Curtis W Tarr says the 1970 draft lottery ceiling is set at 195 through August with five more numbers added for August inductions. The Army Court of Military Review overturned mutiny convictions of twelve privates who joined a sit down protest over stockade conditions near San Francisco. They upheld willful disobedience convictions for the same 14 day incident, and affirmed one more defiance case. The decision ends review of 24 soldiers involved in the Oct 14 1968 incident.
