Bucksaw Barbwire Unearthed Near Yancy Community
County Surveyor Gordon Prescott reports finding strands of Bucksaw Barbwire over 100 years old near the Yancy Community between Columbus and Washington. The wire predates the Civil War, features two strands around a bucklike blade, and is valued at ten dollars per foot by collectors at the Washington Foundation display. Prescott is known for early regional history work including locating the Daniel Boone rock north of Washington about a decade ago.
