Hong Kong Marine Police Patrols Harbor Waters and Islands
The Hong Kong Marine Police, a 2,000 member force mostly Chinese under British command, patrols the deep sheltered harbor of Hong Kong and waters up to the Red Chinese dividing line. They conduct license inspections, search for smuggling and illegal immigrants, and run four day village penetration patrols on Kaw Iran Peninsula and 20 inhabited islands. Officers earn 400 Hong Kong dollars monthly and can train as navigator, radio operator, or engine expert to boost wages.
