Globe shaped space age hot house at Ito hot springs
A 105-foot high globe made of steel ribs and translucent plastichouses tropical plants and birds. A waterfall runs beside walkways through a jungle like setting. Designed by Dr. Tensei Kondo of Tokyo University of Agriculture. Built in a 260-foot pond at Ito on the Izu peninsula 80 miles south of Tokyo. A tunnel beneath the pond with glass ceilings lets visitors view marine life as it moves to and from the hot house.
