Items include chili mac, beans, peach and cheese salad, biscuits, milk, and fruit. with variations such as hot tamale pie, barbecued beef, tomato sauce, corn bread, and desserts like apple cobbler and oatmeal cookies.
Bill Would Tax Racing for Schools
The Arkansas legislature proposed a 1 percent tax on pari mutuel tickets at Holt Springs Oxlawn Park to fund public schools. Rep. Dave Thompson of Pulaski County introduced the bill, with expected annual revenue around 14 million dollars based on last season’s returns from the racetrack. The Hot Springs track is the only legalized pari mutuel site in the state. the measure sits with the House Revenue and Taxation Committee.
