Move Assures State July 7 Move Assures Status for State July 7
LITTLE ROCK AP J Lee Bearden of Leachville moved to ensure Arkansas State College becomes a university by July 1 even if the General Assembly adjourns. A House bill making the switch was signed by Gov Winthrop Rockefeller but lacked an emergency clause. The Senate amended it to add an emergency clause and will likely vote today. If approved, it goes to the House and then the governor for immediate signing.
