Does Not See Info '68 Helping GOP
Mrs. Elizabeth Westmoreland said she does not know how the Info '68 TV program could aid the Republicans. The program sponsored by Leon B. Catlett, Arkansas Democratic chairman, often criticizes Gov. Rockefeller. The Republican committee said it enhances the GOP image by lacking fact. Westmoreland defended the program, noting its spotlight on state deficits and Welfare Department issues while promoting Democratic leadership in natural resources. She mentioned that national Democrats have also done well. The text ends with an unrelated note about SNAP in atomic energy.

Medicare to Force Tax Increase in Arkansas 1970
Arkansas State Rep. George E. Nowotny Jr. warned that expanding federal medical care will require higher state taxes. He said matching funds could cost $12 million annually over four years, expanding Medicare to all indigent persons under 1970, with the current program limited to those 65 and older. He cautioned forfeiting about $24 million yearly in federal funds as a worse option. The Legislative Council agreed to study the issue and seek congressional review.
