An automobile owned by John W Ridgdill and driven by his son Dwight was stolen Sunday night from a parking place on West Fourth street. No trace had been found by Monday noon. In Chicago the investigation into the murder of Capt. Edwin O. Schildhauer continues as 21 year old waitress Pearl Wilson is questioned. She previously served the slain bandmaster and his wife Frances at the Garfield Arms Hotel and recalls conversations and the couple dining in good spirits between 7 and 7 30 p m.
About 40 representatives of the Arkansas Interscholastic Athletic Association District 10 will meet in Hope Saturday to hear bids on basketball tournaments and spring track and field and literary events. Officers for the new year will be elected.
A discussion on whether bobbing hair causes body hair growth features anthropologists Dr Bruno Oetteking of Columbia and Charles of the Ritz. Oetteking predicts more body hair in future generations while Charles argues cutting hair does not affect other areas.
The Weather Man predicts a cold wave moving into southwest Arkansas starting Monday night, with rain and lower temperatures around Fayetteville, then snow and very cold air statewide Tuesday. Reports also noted freezing conditions in Paris as the front arrives.
Members of the American Legion Auxiliary in this city will attend a state meeting in North Little Rock next Friday. National president Mrs. S Alfred Blackburn of Kentucky will attend and deliver the principal address. The meeting opens at 10 a m in the auditorium of the States Veterans Administration hospital with a luncheon following.

A concurrent resolution by McCall seeks speedy prosecutions for audit-disclosed wrongdoings and grants the governor authority to appoint special legal counsel. Bohlinger’s measure creates a joint committee to probe payment of special counsel fees in state bank deposit recoveries. The senate reconvenes Monday afternoon.
The State Highway Audit Commission ends its inquiry with a report to Governor Futrell and the legislature urging abolition of the commission form of highway administration in favor of a single engineer executive. It calls for ending the one cent gasoline tax refund to counties and notes wasteful spending, while praising overall construction quality. A 73 year old man, Robert McFadden, was bound over to await Hempstead county grand jury on a murder charge after a Woods shooting. He did not attend, was represented by Steve Carrigan, and bond was set at 1000 dollars. The quarrel arose when Green confronted him about missing wood in Hope. Green died next day from a fractured skull. Witnesses include Watson Hightower, Deputy Baker, and Constable Porter.

Four youths aged 11 to 15 were arrested after attempting to break into Southern Grain and Produce Co on South Louisiana street. Two entered through a side door while others fled but were identified. The break-in occurred Friday night with an alarm triggering police response. They face a juvenile court hearing before County Judge Milner Stephens. date pending.
Hempstead and Miller counties battled a private toll bridge owned by Conway and partners. W. H. Arnold of Texarkana and O. A. Graves of Hope earned 10550 for five years of legal work to cancel the franchise and secure a state owned bridge across the Red River at Fulton. The case spanned two supreme court trips and years of depositions and trials with local chambers backing the effort.
