In Yarnell Arizona FBI reports a thwarted bank robbery ended in a murder suicide. William Buffington 31 of Liberty Texas and Johnna Jessee 22 of Spokane Washington died after authorities freed bank manager Norma Dunne. The couple demanded 25000 dollars and a helicopter and talked with a reporter by telephone for hours before the gunfire. Buffington expressed a wish to be buried near Jessee and to have both buried together. Jessee and Buffington were found with head wounds as officers entered the Valley National Bank.

Ronald Cook 27 of Indiana died when his truck skidded on an icy bridge and plunged into a creek on Highway 67 west of Hope. He was thrown from the vehicle and pinned underneath, dead on arrival at a local hospital.

Swedish Viscount crash kills 22 at Bromma Airport

A four engine Viscount chartered by Linjeflyg crashed in a parking lot near Bromma Airport Stockholm killing all 22 aboard. Police said no one on the ground was hurt and an ambulance driver noted immediate deaths. A resident said the pilot attempted to avoid hitting a nearby apartment building.
