London gold rush rattles bullion market amid demand surge
London traders report a surge in gold demand pushing prices up more than 44 pounds at the daily fix. Rothschild and Sons quoted at 35.18 an ounce as Bank of England and the seven nation gold pool were caught by surprise by the spike. The rush mirrors earlier high demand in November and December, though today’s move comes with softer activity overall. In other news, doctors update on Blasberg after a recent heart transplant, noting stable condition though throat infection and immune-suppressant therapy. Also, Arkansas candidates draw for ballot positions in the March 30 special election to replace L H Autry in Mississippi County.

The fifth recipient in New York died 10 hours post op. In Cape Town a patient developed fluid around Blaiberg’s heart but doctors did not view it as serious. A Georgetown doctor announced plans to precondition fetal hearts for future transplants to bypass donor wait times.
