The Hope teams beat Nashville 62-20 in the boys game and 42-38 in the girls. Johnny Honeycutt led the boys with 18 points, followed by Bill Rhinehardt 13 and Jones 9. Shirley Smith topped the girls with 17, Phyllis Martin 13, and Annette Hatfield 9. Hope faces Malvern next in their 4AA conference opener.

Saratoga Invitational Basketball Tourney Opens Monday

Saratoga's annual Invitational basketball tournament starts Monday night January 13 and runs all week with finals Saturday night. Monday features Blevins vs Bradley boys at 6 30, Blevins vs Bradley girls at 7 45, and Saratoga vs Laneburg boys at 9. Wednesday includes Spring Hill vs Willisville boys at 6 30, Saratoga vs Genoa Central girls at 7 45, and Mineral Springs vs Hope B team at 9. No games Tuesday. Other teams listed include Nashville Fouke Bright Star and Foreman. Quarterfinals Thursday Friday, semifinals Saturday morning, finals Saturday night.
