Mind Your Manners Quiz on Social Letters
A reader asks etiquette questions about letter writing. Should a girl write several letters to a young man or keep to one? When handed a letter should a hostess reveal its origin from the postmark? Should letters from parents to sons in camps be cheerful and encouraging? Should a letter dwell on the writer’s troubles? And must a friendly letter avoid the recipient’s affairs? The piece invites review of proper social usage.
