Debt Ceiling Rise Is Inevitable
Washington AP reports officials expect the Nixon administration to ask Congress to raise the national debt ceiling again, near the record increase last year. With a $28 billion 1972 deficit and revenue declines, the limit could be exceeded by March 1, leaving about four billion in the limit and months of funding. The 1973 budget will avoid a value-added tax and aim for a full employment balance, avoiding new levies.
