Izora M. Townsend 70 of Hope Rt. 1 died in a local hospital early Friday. She was Hempstead County lifelong resident, widow of H C Townsend and member of Spring Hill Methodist Church. Surviving four sons Lou Lynn Wilbur Townsend of Hope and Glenn Townsend of Berlin Pa a daughter Miss Farrell Townsend and 14 grandchildren. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Spring Hill Methodist Church with Rev Carl Diffee and Rev Charles Jones. Burial Mt Nebo Cemetery Smith Funeral Home Stamps in charge.

The plan to host up to 40 000 people and a 3000 acre ski area on federal land triggers debate over land use and conservation with political leaders and Vail Associates guiding the response as environmental concerns prompt calls for delay and study.
