Gas prices in Hope fell Tuesday with six of eight local oil firms moving to lower posted rates. Ethyl dropped from 18 to 16 or 17 cents at Sinclair Texas Lion and aviation fuel fell to 16 cents at Wilkerson. Regular gasoline mostly 14 cents, with three firms holding at 14 cent level and Loreco Magnolia not changing.

Mrs. A F Simmons 42 sister of Guy Card died Tuesday morning in Julia Chester hospital after a lingering illness. Funeral at Shover Springs cemetery conducted by Rev. John G Reese. She lived most of life in Hempstead county and is survived by her husband A F Simmons ten children two grandchildren her parents J R Card of Washington two sisters Luther Caudle of Bodean and Charley Moss of Kansas City Mo one brother Guy Card of Hope. Sheriff John L. Wilson announced that Hempstead county auto owners may operate without paying license fees for 1933 until Arkansas lawmakers act on a proposed bill to reduce the fee. The legislature meets January 9 and may consider the bill by February 1. Licenses may be issued if owners are willing to pay the current rate.
A Shelby Arkansas fire destroyed a one story home killing James Miller Beatrice Miller and their five children including a 9 year old and a 2 week old. The blaze left the family wiped out and authorities investigating the cause.

The State Treasury notes bond obligations for the year total 7,408,520 dollars, short of the 7,500,000 required under highway bond agreements. Rejections include 4,690,898.54 from the gasoline tax share and 2,747,621.63 from auto license receipts. Interest due on an 18,000,000 dollar bond issue stands at 427,500 dollars.
