Arkansas tax reform defense of unemployment merit rating
Our Daily Bread argues the Arkansas unemployment tax under merit rating is misused, draining cash with no clear benefit. It cites Texas parity, small-town papers like The Star paying about 480 dollars yearly, and warns of price increases or layoffs eroding the system if the merit-rating promise is broken. The piece calls for keeping merit-rating to avoid political blowback and preserve unemployment compensation.
