Controversial Amendment Shifts Votes on Bill Process
The Linder amendment passed the House State Agencies Committee 6 to 5, potentially raising the bill’s needed votes by expanding financing for a new unit from 51 to 75. Schoenfeld sought authority over gambling and liquor law violations, while Murphy claimed both amendments aimed to derail the measure. Van Dalsem and Feild staged a walkout on the vote registration issue, leaving the committee quorumless as it weighed more than 20 amendments. It approved requiring registrants to complete applications in their own handwriting before the registrar.

Unhappy husband seeks fresh start with frigid wife
Dorothy Dix advises that marital coldness often stems from physical mental and chemical factors and that mutual love is essential. The reader asks why a wife with a cold marriage would withhold affection despite an executive husband’s salary and asks if parental and Victorian norms influence such frigid behavior. Recommended actions include open discussion with the wife and addressing physical issues with a physician.
