Fire Destroys Feeders Supply Company Here
Fire swept through Feeders Supply Co. near the L and A Railway between Third and Fourth streets, destroying the wood frame building and tons of feed. Estimated loss about 30,000 dollars, partially insured. Lightning and a violent storm are suspected as the cause. Firefighters controlled the blaze by daylight Sunday. The site, a Hope landmark 43 years old, was built by Ike W. Dudkel and later owned by Paul McCloud of Texarkana. The company operates from a boxcar while seeking a new location. A nearby small handle factory caught fire four times but was kept from spreading. Also, a 3:50 a.m. fire damaged the Robert Robertson home on Hazel Street, likely from wiring and attic fire sparked by lightning. Nearby storms also damaged Patmos High School gym.
