State Divided Into 3 Forestry Units
The Arkansas State Forestry Division splits the state into three regions with headquarters in Camden Clarksville and Forrest City. Protection Unit Nine covers ACTS Columbia Lafayette and parts of Hempstead Nevada and Ouachita counties with eight ranger districts and about six fire guards per district. Fire detection relies on steel look-out towers eight miles apart and rangers may receive portable radio sets. all grass and wood fires must be reported under the Cole Crutchfield Fire Law.
