London AP Boris Karloff, the gentle monster of Frankenstein fame, died Sunday near London at 81. He acted for 58 years in more than 130 films, debuted in 1910 in British Columbia, and last appeared in Britain last year. Born William Henry Pratt in Dulwich on November 23, 1887, he lived in Hollywood but kept British citizenship and returned to Britain in 1959. He praised a 1956 Broadway role as a bishop in The Lark as the high point of his career. He was married five times, his survivors include wife Evelyn Helmar, daughter Sara Jane from his fourth marriage.
