Former Jonesboro police sergeant Larry Edward Hendrix, 30, and co conspirator Larry Wayne Brown, 24, were indicted by a federal grand jury for conspiracy to rob the Citizens National Bank of Jonesboro between mid July and Sept 12, 1974. Also charged were Robert Hargraves, 24, and Lola Creswell, a Newport Hospital official, with Medicare violations.

LT JOSEPH Missouri police halted James Beardsley 22 of Lincoln Nebraska after he seized two women on an Omaha to Kansas City Continental Trailways bus. The two hostages and a police detective rode in a car given to the fugitive before officers stopped pursuit. None of the hostages were harmed. Beardsley and his brother faced Lincoln warrants for robbery and use of a weapon in a felony. The man fled with the women toward Kansas City as highway patrol and county deputies pursued, but the car was abandoned after roadblocks tightened. Police negotiated briefly as shots were fired. The incident followed a tavern brawl prompt and the seizure occurred at a bus station north of Kansas City.
Los Angeles police hunt the Skid Row Slasher after a ninth victim, Clyde C. Hay, 34, National Cash Register employee, is found throat slit in a Hollywood apartment. Slasher known for attacking weak and crippled victims. nearby victim Frias earlier killed at LA Hilton.
Hempstead County residents are invited to visit the new School of Hope facility on S Laurel Street Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. A dedicatory address will be given at 2:30 by Commissioner Charles Accuff and Deputy Commissioner Dr Larry Rogers attends with other dignitaries. The center, serving ages 5 to 28, houses 36 enrolled students and offers counseling, speech, motor, self help, social adjustment, music, and basic skills programs.
A privately owned airliner carrying about 20 people crashed in a field near Houston during a rainstorm at 3 18 a.m. En route from Huntsville it struck during approach to Houston Intercontinental Airport. Six killed, several injured as rescue efforts faced heavy rain and ambulances were dispatched.
Lorena Andrews Formby aged 80 died Friday at her Prescott home. Widow of Lucious D. Formby, she was a longtime Nevada county resident and Prescott Church of Christ member. Survived by two sons Rufus Formby and Shellie Formby, daughter Mrs Early McIver, a brother Rufus Andrews, a sister Mrs Rebecca Maynard, and ten grandchildren with eleven great grandchildren. Services Sunday at 2 p.m. at Prescott Church of Christ. Gene Cleer officiating. Burial in Snell Cemetery, Emmet, under Herndon Funeral Home.
