Arkansas Forestry Commission will obtain an additional 23,400 dollars to assist in battling fires and related timber industry services. Commissioner Fred H. Lang noted the money derives from a two cent per acre voluntary assessment on about 68,000 acres tied to the Fordyce lumber firm bought by Georgia Pacific Corp. The commission typically collects around 90,000 dollars annually from such assessments, but Fordyce had ceased payments in 1951.
